The Vaal is our main river up in these parts, it is home to one of the most sought after fish on fly THE YELLOW FISH. These hard fighting aquatic beasts have been favoured over the trout in this country for the last couple of years, purely for the size and fight that they bring.

Patterns that imitate the Caddis and Mayfly families are on the top 2 spots of choice, although they regularly take dries as well as other patterns. The preferred technique used on the Vaal for these specimens are the Czech Nymph or Spanish style nymphing methods, down stream nymphing is also a deadly method
